Bulb Planting Day

Bulb planting day Saturday 21st September, 11 am. Our Professors, foals, their families, other local home educators and their families, and local residents are invited to bring their trowels, watering cans gloves and wheelbarrows to the Stable and help plant several thousand daffodils, crocuses, tulips, alliums, snowdrops, maybe some young trees, shrubs and climbing plants After a fun filled planting and watering session, we will fire up the barbeque ready to enjoy the court yard as an open air diner at 2pm.

We will also be offering the opportunity to sponsor a tree or an area of planting and laydown a plague to honour somebody who is or has been an inspiration in your family’s life.

Random Acts of Kindness Week

Random Acts of Kindness Week 14th October. Throughout the early part of the term our team will be laying down roots and building friendships. We will be focused on highlighting the concepts of determination, tolerance, compassion, empathy, trust, respect, support, and teamwork. Each day we will reflect on the great moments that have made us feel valued and supported, proud to be unique and mindful of our gifts. In the week of 14th October, we will have a post box in the building and will ask every professor and every foal/colt to look out for people being kind, doing simple things to make other people feel good about themselves and to feel supported. When the person has been spotted, the observer will fill out a nomination form and quietly drop it in the box.

On Monday 21st we will announce the results, everyone nominated will get a certificate and a small prize. The top three nominees will receive a voucher to buy a gift of their choice.

Halloween Extravaganza

During the week of 28th October, we will focus on making jack o lanterns, and other spooky decorations and baked goods Thursday 31st, 7pm, will open the stable doors and invite our families and friends to join us, in fancy dress if they would ike, to take part in traditional games, craft activities and such events as mummifying the Professors.

We will have a face painter and those who would like to can purchase a jacket potato supper for under £5 ahead. If we manage a profit, we will be putting the money raised to getting something like a trampoline for the paddock.

Remembrance Monday

Remembrance Monday 11th November, we ask all Professors, and Colts to be in the stable for 9am on this day and work collaboratively to create wreaths of poppies. At 10 am parents are asked to join us for a short assembly remembering those who have served in conflict throughout history and have given their lives for our freedom. We will then ask staff and parents to drive our young people to our nearest war memorial for 11am, take part in the service present our wreaths.

Thanksgiving Supper

Thanksgiving Supper 28th November 2024. The entire Unicorn team is invited to Supper at 7pm in the Stable to share a cold buffet and give thanks for all that is good in our lives. In traditional USA style, you are invited to wear red, white, and blue, and to bring a plate to add to the buffet. Professor Rothchild and Moss will be contacting you for numbers and your offers of contributions to the meal.

The Stable will provide the decorations, table ware, flatware, napkins, and the chicken/turkey.
