We believe that it is a parent’s ambition and duty to nurture their offspring to a productive and fulfilling independence. We all want to see our young grow into resilient, compassionate adults who are able to co-exist with society’s norms and expectations, whilst retaining the uniqueness that makes them the potential leaders of tomorrow.
Part of being able to perform as a fully functional adult is to be able to travel independently thus our Unicorn Mentors will be offering home educators opportunities to experience travel by bus, taxi, train, foot, ferry, Eurostar and Plane. These experiences will reveal themselves as part of our Freaky Friday Day Trips provision.
The Second and Fourth Friday of the month will be open to all local home educators to sign up to carefully planned events and activities that enrich academic experience, foster social skills and offer awe and wonder to our young people. All of our professors have extensive training and experience in in trip management, risk assessment and are conversant with all aspects of taking groups of neuro diverse or anxious students to outside school events.
The first such event will be in September 2024 with a geography field trip to look at landform and rivers. The second trip of the month will focus on STEM activities. These days, which will be advertised on our website and via Eventbrite, will be very hands on. Whilst there will be the option to complete independent project/gcse course work and have it formally assessed by our teachers, it is hoped that many will simply take the opportunity to use their senses to learn from the world and their fellow earth dwellers.
